Bart began studying the martial arts at 8 years old. He has studied Tai-Zen, Karate, Judo, Tae Kwon Do, and Jiu-Jitsu. His Tae Kwon Do training has been guided by Grand Master Kwak, Instructor Bivens, and Jui-Jitsu by Grand Master Malvagno and Sensei Dolce. He is a fourth degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and a first degree black belt in Jiu-Jitsu. He is proficient in Short sticks, cane, self-defense strategies and their functional applications. As an Occupational Therapist from profession he utilizes his martial arts skills to facilitate growth and development of children with ADHD  and other neurological disorders. This combination is unique in the field and is highly successful in changing behavioral patterns. He enjoys building computers and wood working.


Dr. Luiza Raab-Pontecorvo

Dr. Luiza began studying the martial arts in 1999 training in Karate, Aikido, Soo Bahk Do, and Tae Chi. In 2003 she started Tae Kwon Do training under instruction of Grand Master Kwak and Master Pontecorvo, and Jui-Jitsu under Grand Master Malvagno and Sensei Dolce. In her professional life she performs on music stages of NYC and teaches piano and french horn. She double majored in piano and horn receiving her Doctor of Musical Arts from State University of NY at SB, Masters of Music from University Missouri in KC, and bachelor in French language. She speaks Italian, French, German, Russian, English and her native Polish. She is a winner of many international competitions and scholarships and has performed as a solo, chamber and orchestra musician in Austria, Germany, France, Czech Republic, England, Sweden, Switzerland, Korea, China, and Scandinavian countries. Dr. Raab is a winner of the prestigious 2009 Participation Award Tae Kwon Do Essay Contest organized by the Korean Embassy in the United States. Her essay about the influence of Tae Kwon Do on her life will be published soon.

Brian Quinn, LCSW, Ph.D.
1st Degree Black Belt- Assistant Instructor
Brian Quinn, LCSW, Ph.D. author of Wiley Concise Guides to Mental Health: Bipolar Disorder and The Depression Sourcebook, 2nd ed., is a clinical social worker in private practice in Huntington, New York and an adjunct instructor in the Department of Psychiatry at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. He earned his master's degree in social work at the University of Chicago in 1979 and his Ph.D. in clinical social work at New York University in 1994. He has received advancedtraining from Dr. Ross Greene on the Collaborative Problem-Solving approach to explosive and challenging children. He has given workshops on bipolar disorder at graduate schools of social work, state societies of clinical social work, hospitals and to hundreds of clinicians nationwide at seminars sponsored by Professional Educational Seminars, Inc. (PESI). Dr. Quinn earned his black belt in Tae Kwon Do in 1983. He will complete training for certification as an emergency medical technician in June of 2010.
Lauren Hendricks- currently a black belt in the art of Tae Kwon Do, is also an accomplished student in dance performance. She has studied the art of dance for over twenty years under Miss Jean Helrich at the Creative School of the Performing Arts, where she has also taught Ballet, Tap, and Jazz for a number of years. Additionally, she has taught Hip-Hop, Latin and Belly Dance for the Locust Valley Continuing Education programs. Miss Hendricks has studied martial arts under Master Bart Pontecorvo training in the arts of Tae Kwon Do, Jiu-Jitsu and Arnis sticks. Other fields of education include Theatre Acting and Improvisation, the Visual Arts, and Music Theory and Instrumentation for the guitar, flute, vocals and percussion. She enjoys a healthy regiment centered in the Yoga discipline of exercise and has experience in special education with children. Lauren is also certified in child and adult CPR

Jimi Mello is currently a blue belt in the art of Tae Kwon Do. He also graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Master of Arts in Teaching from CUNY Queens College, graduated Magna Cum Laude from CUNY Hunter College with a BA in Computer Science Math, is a Certified New York State Public School Teacher in Childhood Education, is a Certified New York State Technology Education Teacher. Mister Mello is a mature, experienced substitute Teacher, stay-at-home parent, father, and husband. When teaching Mister Mello: maintains a productive, safe, and focused learning environment; provides necessary accommodations and modifications for growth and success of all students; uses his sound knowledge of human behavior and performance, individual differences in ability, personality, interests, learning and motivation; sets clear short-term and long-term goals to drive instruction; provides students with appropriate educational activities and experiences that enable them to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth; finally Mister Mello understands and implements Individualized Education Plans.
